Present Participles (1)

Present participle is in the form [V+ing]. It modifies nouns in the sentence. It can modify both noun that functions as the subject and the object of the sentence.  In this course, we will look at present participle that modifies the subject.

*   A. Participles modifying noun as the subject of the sentence:

- Watching her favorite TV program, Sandra ate chips and crackers.
- Sandra had a long chat with her best friend on the phone, discussing potential plans for their next summer trip together.

Can you think of some mistakes when the present participle form is used when the subject is not the actor?
