Introduction

I came to IU in 2001 as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher at a university level seeking ideas and methodologies that that would enhance the student achievements.  I had gone to England to explore CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) and had been convinced that  teachers' technological skills would help them exploit many available resources by tailoring them to suit their specific contexts.  This portfolio presents three major aspects of my journeys into the IST (Instructional Systems Technology) field in relation to Language Education:

  • Instructional Design

  • e-Tearning

  • Research

Products

Arriving at IU, where advanced instructional technologies are accessible, I began to experiment with different authoring tools and created a simple personal website that grew over time (between 2001-2003). It was, however,  designed without any instructional design principles, although I was learning a lot about how to integrate special scripts and graphics.

When I started taking my minor courses in Fall 2003, I began to realize that websites should be designed based on a well-defined rationale and developed accordingly.  From there on, I have been exploring theories and experimenting with new hands-on tasks.

This section contains samples of my work, both informational and instructional, that grew more mature, technologically sophisticated and pedagogically sound as a result of well-informed efforts through the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) procedure or model.

Presentations

As ideas accumulated, I tried to participate in the different professional communities, sharing ideas and technical features that may be useful to new colleagues. In return, I have gained both presentations skills and more ideas for further work and research.
